What's your postcode?
We'll pull average property values for your local area — you don't need to look anything up.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know what council tax band I'm in?
Your council tax band is based on what your property was worth on 1 April 1991 in England (or 1 April 2003 in Wales). You can check your current band on the GOV.UK website by entering your postcode.
Can I challenge my council tax band?
Yes — you can challenge your band for free through the Valuation Office Agency (VOA). If your band is reduced, you'll get a refund backdated to when you moved in (or when the error started). There's no penalty for checking.
How many homes are on the wrong council tax band?
The government estimates that around 400,000 homes in England may be in the wrong band. Bands were set in 1991 and many haven't been reviewed since, even after renovations or changes to the area.
What happens if my council tax band goes up after a challenge?
If you challenge and the VOA finds your band should actually be higher, they can increase it — but only from the date of their decision, not backdated. This is rare, but worth knowing before you challenge.
